Algodón del Litoral is an agroecological cotton grown under the principles of biodynamic farming.

Grown in the Province of Chaco

In 2022, we received a batch of unginned cotton, grown on lands belonging to indigenous communities in Campo Medina, Punta del Indio, Chaco, Argentina. This cotton was planted following the principles of biodynamic farming, which not only considers the biological care of the soil but also astronomical events—farmers follow a calendar based on the movement of the stars. They use non-genetically modified seeds and reserve rainwater for its production. It is free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

Processed in the Province of  Buenos Aires

spinning mill heard this story in detail and decided to process the fiber, despite the operational and financial challenges this represented. They understood the importance of preserving the pure and natural essence of the cotton, and after thoroughly cleaning their machines over several days, they worked with this small batch of cotton.

This production marked the beginning of our journey in the agroecological cotton value chain in Argentina, opening the doors to a model of natural and environmentally respectful production, which we continue to promote through our current partnerships.

Today, we can enjoy a collection of skeins made from this agroecological cotton, the result of an integral and sustainable process, thanks to the empathy of the entire production chain.

Agroecological Systems

The concept of agroecology has evolved over the years, and today there is a general consensus that it is more than just ecological practices.

Agroecology is a paradigm that promotes the design and management of agricultural production systems that are economically viable, socially fair, and environmentally sustainable. These systems are characterized by greater socio-ecological resilience and are aimed at strengthening the well-being of society as a whole.

Agroecological systems are those that do not use synthetic chemical inputs or genetically modified organisms and gradually, integrally, and sustainably apply a series of principles that protect the well-being of farmers and the health of the soil.
