Description

Merino de la Patagonia Handspun is a very limited-edition collection, handspun by women artisans from the province of Buenos Aires who began their journey through projects such as Manos del Salado and Manos de Lamadrid.

Each variety reflects a different way of working with the fibre: finer, thicker and more irregular yarns, as well as two-ply and slub constructions.

Our Story

Our relationship with these spinners is part of HUANACO’s story. Through them, we began to discover the long journey of wool: fibre selection, washing, combing, spinning, plying and finishing.

For this collection, we selected the same fibre used in our Merino de la Patagonia and entrusted it to the artisans, allowing each woman to transform it through her knowledge, her hands and her own distinctive way of spinning.

A collection that brings together the fibre’s origin and the textile knowledge passed down and sustained by women in our local communities.

About the Fibre

Merino de la Patagonia is made from 100% Patagonian Merino wool from a regenerative source verified by Land to Market™.

Healthy for the planet. The wool comes from carefully managed flocks raised on farms where environmental outcomes and soil health are measured. Producers manage their land and livestock by working with nature’s cycles. This approach supports thriving ecosystems, greater biodiversity, cleaner water and healthier soils.

Animal welfare. The wool comes from farms that meet the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which promotes respectful practices for the sheep, the land and the people involved in its production.

Care

Hand wash in cold water using a pH-neutral detergent specifically formulated for wool. Do not wring. Remove excess water with a towel and dry flat, in the shade and away from direct light.
